Go Glamping by Paula

Is camping one of your favorite past times? Ours too... But it is definitely a past time! The older we get, the less appealing sleeping on the ground in humid Texas weather with big mosquitoes and smelly clothes starts to sound. But the whole connecting with nature, and getting away from it all, and cooking around the bonfire part of camping is something we definitely miss!

Summer is a great time to take the kids and camp out by the lake, but the problem is we want the nature without all the hassle of everything camping comes with. Solution? Glamping!

Glamping - Glamorous Camping. Yup, it's a thing. And we love it.

You're probably asking yourself, isn't glamping just staying in a hotel? No way! Think tree houses, tipis, vans, & tents.

If you're in Texas you're in luck, because it is the place to be for glamping! Below are some of our favorite local spots we're swooning over...

treehouse1

First up, a treehouse, or should we say, an adult treehouse. Right outside of Austin, in an ancient cypress tree, you can have it all...even a waterfall bath.

Next, a modified safari tent in the Texas Hill Country, listed by many publications as one of the top 5 places in the country. Relaxing in a hammock on the tent porch that overlooks remote waterfalls? Sounds pretty ideal to me.

ecodome

Near Big Bend there's this secluded eco-dome. Yes we didn't know that was a thing either. But it's pretty cute, inside and out, and totally run on solar panels. The stars at night are definitely big and bright here...talk about a getaway!

Then there's El Cosmico in Marfa, TX. Need we say more?

el cosmico

El Cosmico is the king of glamping. They basically invented it. You can take your pick here--teepees, safari tents, yurts, or camper vans. They have it ALL.

And the interiors of each unit are totally unique. They've made native-american meets southwestern chic a thing. Needless to say, this place is on the top of our list.

So have you changed your mind about camping yet? Because we definitely have!
