Sherwin William’s Color of the Month: Functional Gray

Sherwin William’s color of the month is a soft taupe called Functional Gray. It’s a gorgeous neutral that leans on the cool side which is great for the winter season. But to be honest, we’ve been feeling a little tired of gray lately… It was all the hype in the last few years with people shifting from yellow undertones to a cooler blue or purple undertone found in many gray shades. While worth the interest at one point, we feel like it can be a little played out. Regardless, this color is still really fresh and can adapt to many different color schemes and styles in a home.

The Design:

1. Green Painting // 2. Black Pendant Light // 3. Floral Painting // 4. Femme Fatale Painting // 5. Cloud Sectional // 6. Cashmere Table Lamp // 7. Mosaic Side Table // 8. Green Armchair // 9. Black Ottomans // 10. Moroccan Rug // 11. Square Coffee Table

With this taupe gray paint color you have to be careful incorporating other shades of gray and brown because they can easily get lost in translation. We used a stark white sectional made by Restoration Hardware, known as the comfiest sofa currently produced. The light wood on the coffee table and accent table bring in the paint color as well as light shades to create more depth. Brass accents are seen throughout as well because they are brought out from Functional Gray. We also balanced the paint color with some sharp black pieces seen in the poufs and a few of the paintings. We needed a little pop of color and the bright green was an excellent way to do this, seen in the accent chair and another painting.
