March Color Inspiration from Slim Aarons

March is here and so is Spring Break, and if you have the privilege to be in Austin then so is SXSW! The heat is coming back and daylight savings is about to be over… we are really ready for that Texas sunshine to be in full bloom. For our color inspiration this month we looked to Slim Aarons. He was an incredibly talented photographer who was known for capturing “beautiful people doing beautiful things in beautiful places.” We’ve used his art before for color inspiration. When gathering inspiration for this time of year, he is a major icon. So let’s get into it!

March Inspiration:

Photo Sources: here and here.

This shot exudes relaxation and wealth and happiness all in one. We love the symmetry here with the accent from that gorgeous car and one palm tree hanging over the dock. But we’re for the colors. Muted, almost pastel-like shades of green and blue are in the background, while the couple in the front have a heavy contrast from oranges and reds. It’s a great spring time pallet that doesn’t overtly scream, SPRING! C’mon… “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” So we went in a slightly different direction with a photo that makes you feel excited for a lavish spring break trip, but with colors that are great year-round. And as always, we color matched this photo using Sherwin Williams Color Snap.
