Let’s Talk About… Wallpaper!

We all remember the days of absolutely hideous wallpaper… Every time my parents were house hunting, “NO WALLPAPER” was one of the first things on their list. The scraping and tearing and re-painting, ugh. It was such a hassle and completely terrifying how bad some of it was. However, we’re blessed to be living in a time of some great wallpaper. I mean really, really good ones.

And soon enough, the next generation is going to be hating what we love right now, as they always do. Hopefully we have some time to enjoy these eccentric designs before that cycle continues once again. It truly can transform a bland room into something fabulous- whether it be an accent wall, tucked between the cabinets of a built-in, or you can really go crazy (in a good way) and put it up on every wall in the room. In some cases, a stunning wallpaper is just what you need to put that room together.

Moroccan rugs and sheepskins add warmth and texture, and a teepee makes for fantastically fun play dates.

Turn your space into something fresh and dreamy with these gorgeous floral prints. We love the accented cobalt blue cabinets to set the tone for something more mature. These are great examples of how a floral print that can typically be seen as a “little girl’s design” has made the space actually more adult-like than before.

Small-Scale Geometric:

We love these prints because of how versatile they are! If you’re looking to add something special to a space, but not sure if you can do a full-wall mural, go for something like this! The size of the patterns are easy on the eye, and as long as it’s just accented (or a neutral color), it won’t be overbearing.

Gingham Wallpaper by Katie Kime

We know what you’re thinking, “Gingham is a grandma print…” But it is so much more than that stereotype! Gingham is super trendy right now, it’s adorable in an off-the-shoulder blouse or cute summer dress. But, it’s also really cute when you put it in a room with contemporary furniture! It’s easy to make mistakes when combining something so traditional with something so modern. But when done just right (like these examples), it looks stunning.

Animal Print… Literally:

For some, these looks can be a bit overwhelming; and for a select few, it might be your new favorite wallpaper to try out. Even though this look can seem a little out there at first, it’s easy to keep it contemporary based on the fixtures & furniture it surrounds. With the abundance of chic styles coming out ever season, this is one that might be another fad… but for right now, we’re loving it!
