3 tips for a Cool Spring Update in your Home

Spring is in the air and with that often comes Spring Cleaning and Organization.  I know most of you go straight to Pinterest for amazing ideas to get organized and get your house ready for the upcoming beautiful weather.  Though it isn’t a bad place to get ideas…here are my 3 tips for Spring Updates:

Tip 1: The Big Purge

Get rid of extra clothing by Giving the gently used items to a worthy organization like Legacy Ranch (Foster and Adoption home for children) or Lifeworks (helping youth and families find self-sufficiency). Help yourself and help others at the same time! They also love gently used toys, bikes, etc. While you are cleaning out your garage, put a few of those items to the side as well. Sometimes it is a little easier to let go of things when you know they are going to a good home where they will be loved. To help you with this daunting chore, set a box in an out of the way place and have a goal that every time you walk in your closet remove 3 items to put in the box. Over the course of a week you will have the job completed with little to no effort on your part.

Tip 2: Paint a Space

A fresh coat of paint in a room is enough to make anyone smile and feel accomplished. Paint is one of the easiest and cheapest update or changes you can make in your home. Stick with the Spring inspiration and do a pretty light green or baby blue in your bathroom. Picking a paint can be a little overwhelming, but hey it is just paint. If you get tired of the color in a year you can change it. Be spontaneous!

Tip 3: Bring Nature In

No Green Thumb required for this task. Update or add in a plant, tree or flower in rooms that you spend a lot of time. Flowers, whether real or fake help to elevate your mood when you see them, so don’t be afraid to wander out in the yard and pick a few roses for your Kitchen cabinet tonight. A nice Palm or Acanthus Tree can help get you on the way to a happier and healthier life.
